Business Data Analyst

Contract to Hire

Hybrid (3 days on site & 2 days remote)

Position Summary

Our company is looking for an experienced technologist who loves solving complex software and data problems. In this role, you will interact with our internal clients and other team members to gather requirements for the creation of an enterprise data cloud solution to build data models for various data domains established within the enterprise. You will work closely with the data architecture team to finalize the model and will be responsible for producing data catalog, data dictionary, and data mapping documents. You will take the approval from the management team and submit the proposed solutions to the data engineering team for the build-out. You will be responsible for testing and signing off on the requirement from data & analytics department once the model development is complete. You will also be supporting Enterprise Data & Analytics environments and perform on-call support on a need basis. You may be required to consume and build Power BI semantic models based on the data mapping document.

Additional Responsibilities

• Provide on-call support for enterprise data applications on a rolling calendar basis. Data engineering team will provide the training to perform the support.

Qualifications

• experience working & developing various data models and process related artifacts for data engineering, ELT & reporting use cases.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Advanced knowledge of SQL languages, predominately TSQL and PL/SQL.
• Extensive understanding of relational databases, data warehouse architecture & principles, CDC techniques and dimensional modeling.
• Advanced knowledge of information engineering concepts, including business area analysis, business system design, data modeling, data governance and data security.
• Customer service mindset, ability to work effectively in a professional manner with technology staff, business stakeholders, end users. management and others outside the organization.
• Ability to lead meetings with technical peers and upper management regarding data solutions.
• Ability to set priorities, handle multiple projects and meet deadlines with no oversight in an agile work environment.
• Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Strong data profiling skills to analyze source system information.
• Good understanding of cloud data infrastructure including but not limited to Azure Data factory, Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI,
• Good understanding of big data technologies such as Apache Spark to process & handle large datasets.
• Good understanding of Data Lake, Serverless Architecture & Delta Lake to implement delta Lakehouse architecture.
• Good understanding of extracting data through REST; Working knowledge of processing and storing complex data structures ingested through REST.
• Overall understanding of Power BI & Semantic Models.
