Job Title: HVAC Applied Systems Technician

Location: Fresno, CA

Job Summary

We seek a highly skilled and motivated HVAC Applied Systems Technician to join our growing team in Fresno, CA. This full-time position is ideal for a technician with experience servicing, maintaining, and optimizing applied HVAC systems, including large-tonnage chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and advanced control systems. The right candidate will be solutions-driven, safety-conscious, and capable of delivering top-tier service to commercial and industrial clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Chiller Diagnostics & Service: Perform expert troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on air-cooled, water-cooled, screw, and centrifugal chillers (100+ tons).
  • Central Plant Equipment Support: Maintain and repair supporting infrastructure such as cooling towers, pumps, motors, valves, and associated piping and controls.
  • System Commissioning & Start-Up: Execute full-cycle commissioning tasks, including programming, testing, calibration, and performance validation.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Conduct scheduled maintenance on all applied HVAC equipment according to manufacturer specifications and best practices.
  • Technical Analysis & Repair: Identify mechanical and electrical issues, recommend corrective actions, and support repairs through resolution.
  • Rigging Operations: Assist with or lead equipment rigging operations for system installations, removals, and major overhauls.
  • Emergency Response: Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours service for critical systems.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow OSHA standards, company safety policies, and job-site-specific safety protocols.
  • Documentation: Accurately document service activities, diagnostics, and maintenance logs using digital service management tools.
  • Customer Interaction: Maintain strong, professional communication with clients and represent the company in a knowledgeable, customer-first manner.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Chiller Field Supervisor and internal service team to resolve technical challenges and meet project goals.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of HVAC field service experience with applied systems in commercial or industrial environments.
  • Trade school certification or equivalent technical training in HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to service and troubleshoot Centrifugal and screw chillers (100+ tons), Cooling towers, pumps, and control valves, HVAC electrical and mechanical systems
  • EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.
  • Familiarity with control systems, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
  • Strong computer skills in digital documentation, diagnostics, and communications.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Physically capable of lifting and maneuvering tools and equipment as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturer certifications from Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin, or similar OEMs.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) and modern control technologies.
  • Proven experience with centrifugal chiller overhauls and major repair projects.
  • Background in mission-critical facilities, industrial plants, or large-scale commercial HVAC.
