In this position, you will serve as the Non-Exclusionary Discipline Specialist in the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Center. The EDI Center's mission is to advance the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion to create the conditions for building authentic cross-cultural communities where harm is eliminated, and every person's humanity is acknowledged and valued. In this position, you will provide education leadership program development training consultation and resources to support district leaders and provide education leadership, program development, training, consultation and resources to support district leaders, school administrators, discipline teams, student support staff and lead teachers to increase the use of non-exclusionary discipline practices across Minnesota. You will:

  • Provide expertise, technical assistance and coaching to district and school leaders to make strategic changes in discipline procedures, policies, systems, and practices with an emphasis on non-exclusionary discipline grantees, to ensure equitable and nondiscriminatory practices.
  • Research, plan, develop, facilitate, and evaluate large-scale professional learning, professional networking opportunities, and implementation activities that are designed to develop, improve, and support district and school staff to make strategic changes in discipline policies, procedures, systems, and practices through increased access to quality networking and professional development opportunities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive evaluation plan, including the design and application of evaluation tools and processes to measure effectiveness and outcomes of training, technical assistance, and activities of the non-exclusionary discipline grant


This position is eligible for telework to applicants who reside in Minnesota or a bordering county along the Minnesota state line. Effective June 1, employees living within 75 miles of the office will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. For those who live 75 or more miles away, the requirements are currently being assessed for each agency.

Minimum Qualifications

5 years of professional experience in a K-12, social work or counselor role

OR

A bachelor's or master's degree and 4 years of professional experience in a K-12, social work or counselor role

Experience must include:

  • Providing training, professional development or consultation to educators on cultural competency, discipline, anti-bias, and/or diversity/equity/inclusion topics.


Preferred Qualifications

Education leadership experience as a director or administrator level or 5 years experience leading or implementing discipline policies and practices; Advanced degree in education, school social work, school counseling or a related field. Experience partnering and working alongside families and community.
