Job Description

Job Title: Registered Dietitian

Job Overview: The Army is looking for skilled civilian Dietitian for the Holistic Health and Fitness Program (H2F) which involves working as part of an interdisciplinary team of occupational therapists, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches and registered dietitians. The H2F program implements support to Soldiers for all 5 domains of wellness into one holistic program these domains include: Mental, Sleep, Spiritual, Nutritional, and Physical Readiness. The goal of the team of professionals is to enhance Soldier readiness and operational availability through Sports Medicine, Strength and Conditioning and Performance Nutrition to optimize physical training, mitigate injury and increase career longevity. Soldier readiness is critical for the Army to continue to be postured to fight and win our nation’s wars.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Serves as the Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist for an Army brigade sized unit.
  • Delivers individual, group, and unit nutrition services and education to optimize Solder performance, overall unit readiness, and mission success.
  • Works with an interdisciplinary team to communicate and coordinate programming appropriate to the needs of health and injured Soldiers.
  • Conducts assessments to identify nutrition-related concerns of individuals and units.
  • Develops comprehensive performance nutrition programs that improve foundational health and optimize environmental and task-specific performance.
  • Executes and evaluates programs, services, education, and resources for performance enhancement.

Qualifications:

  • One year of experience which includes assessing nutrition related concerns of individuals or groups, providing nutritional counseling or interventions, educating on performance nutrition, and developing and monitoring an organization's nutrition program.

AND

  • Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree in the field of dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, institution management, or related science. The curriculum must have been in accordance with the qualifying requirements established by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) (formerly American Dietetic Association (ADA) prior to January 1, 2012) in effect at the time of graduation. The educational program must have been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

OR

  • Completion of a coordinated undergraduate program, internship, or other clinical component approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) (formerly American Dietetic Association (ADA)) for dietitians or nutritionists.

OR

Professional registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
