We are seeking a dedicated and experienced EKG Technician to join the General Medicine/Telemetry Unit at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County . This role is ideal for a tech who is confident in rhythm interpretation, has hospital-based telemetry monitoring experience, and thrives in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Unit: General Medicine/Telemetry Unit 7E

Shift: Nights – 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Start Date: May 13, 2025

Assignment Length: 13 Weeks

Bill Rate: $25/hr

📋 Job Responsibilities:

• Perform 12-lead electrocardiograms and accurately interpret cardiac rhythms.
• Monitor patients’ heart activity through telemetry equipment.
• Record and document EKG readings in accordance with hospital protocol.
• Notify clinical staff promptly of any abnormal cardiac activity.
• Prepare patients for procedures, explaining processes and positioning for optimal results.
• Maintain and troubleshoot EKG/telemetry equipment.
• Support emergency response protocols when arrhythmias or abnormalities are detected.
• Collaborate with nursing and provider teams to deliver timely cardiac care.
• Uphold patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA regulations.

✅ Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Registered and active certification as a Cardiographic or EKG Technician.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent EKG/Telemetry Tech experience .
• CPR certification (AHA) is required.
• Must pass an EKG interpretation test during onboarding.
• COVID-19 vaccine is required (no exemptions allowed).
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed).

🛑 Time Off Policy:

• Up to 5 days of RTO allowed, with no more than 2 consecutive days .
• No RTO on holidays, weekends , or the day before/after holidays .
