The Maintenance Technician at Whitebridge Pet Brands is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical and mechanical systems across plant and packaging equipment. The technician manages and prioritizes maintenance work orders, supports safety compliance, and ensures equipment readiness. This is a 2nd Shift position working Monday-Friday 3:00 pm- 11:30pm.
Key Responsibilities
1. Troubleshoot, understand and repair electrical and mechanical problems of all plant and packaging/processing equipment and demonstrate an understanding of electrical schematics. Equipment may include but not limited to: wiring, circuits, fuses, switches, electrical installations, motors and AC/DC motor drivers and circuit boards.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of electrical safety.
3. Coordinate, prioritize, conduct and correct maintenance work orders. Ensuring they are completed accurately for planned and unplanned assignments.
4. Respond to any immediate associate safety issues per work order system.
5. Use machinery/equipment specifically related to the position including but not limited to saws, drills, lathes, basic mechanical tools, forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.
6. Perform various maintenance projects using concrete, lumber and metal.
7. Train operators/technicians on operational set-up issues
8. Maintain functional knowledge of all equipment in packaging department.
9. Follows all safety guidelines in the department including proper use of PPE and lockout procedures.
10. Demonstrated ability to work without direct/constant supervision.
11. Ability to read and understand documentation.
12. Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to ensure equipment/facility is ready for operations outside normal schedule hours.
13. All associates are responsible for the safety, quality and food safety in their work areas.
14. Adheres to all food safety, quality, personnel safety and GMP procedures throughout the facility.
15. Completes all other assigned tasks and projects in a timely manner.
Qualifications
1. Previous Maintenance experience is preferred.
2. Know, understand, communicate, and adhere to company policies and procedures, which include, but are not limited to, attendance, safety, HACCP, cGMP’s, Preventive Controls for Animal Foods, etc. All food safety and quality procedures are to be adhered to.
3. Ability to work in a self-directed team environment with minimal supervision.
4. Strong problem solving skills, mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, good computer skills and the ability to write and place PO’s for the ordering of items needed for repair.
5. Good communication skills and ability to be flexible and adapt to change.
6. Physical requirements may include standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, climbing stairs and ladders, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching and grasping.
7. Ability to work in extreme work environments that may be hot, humid, cold and wet.
